Washington Nonprofit joins National Coalition that Supports Increased Volunteering
Local nonprofit SomethingToGive.org looks forward to more collaboration from across the nation

Langley, WA April 9, 2010 - SomethingToGive.org announces that it has joined ServiceNation, a coalition of more than 200 nonprofit organizations that collectively reach some 100 million Americans.

ServiceNation is a national campaign to increase service opportunities, solve chronic social problems through volunteering, and promote a culture of service in America.

Participating organizations include AARP, the NAACP, the Boys & Girls Club of America, United Way of America, Habitat for Humanity International, and the Special Olympics, among many others. A full list of the ServiceNation coalition, with contact information, can be found at www.servicenation.org/pages/The-Coalition.

Andy McRea, Founder and Executive Director of SomethingToGive.org, notes "This Coalition will be a great tool in that furthering our mission. I really look forward to working with the many nonprofits, foundations and organizations to change how we value volunteers, and finally rewarding them for all they do."

ServiceNation is a vision of a new America, where citizens unite to take responsibility for strengthening communities and building a better future, and where service is a core ideal of citizenship. ServiceNation envisions an America where, by 2020, 100 million citizens will volunteer time in schools, workplaces, and faith-based and community institutions each and every year (up from 61 million today), and that an increasing number of Americans will commit a year of their lives to national service.

Coalition members support the mission of ServiceNation by mobilizing their constituents in the effort to promote service as a solution and expand meaningful service and volunteer opportunities for Americans of all ages. Together, the coalition will engage Americas "grasstops" and "grassroots" in this campaign.

About SomethingToGive.org www.SomethingToGive.org

Founded by Andy McRea in 2009, SomethingToGive.orgs mission is to create a community that rewards and, in turn, increases volunteerism nationally. This will be accomplished by the development of an online social network that connects volunteers, non-profit organizations and people we call 'motivators', all working together to incentivize and reward volunteering.

Their website is in beta development, and SomethingToGive.org staff are anticipating an initial test launch by summer 2010, with key nonprofits partnering in its development.
